Cost & Information

How This Works

  • Step 1

    Free Consultation

We can talk about your hopes and goals for therapy, and you can ask questions to make sure we’re a good match. If so, we will schedule our first session; otherwise, I’ll provide referrals to qualified and trusted professionals.

  • Step 2

    Your First Session

Before your first appointment, I’ll send you a link to your patient portal. There you will enter basic information and fill out some forms. When we meet, I’ll take some more time to get to know you and evaluate your concerns.

  • Step 3

    Custom Treatment Plan

We’ll collaboratively identify the core issues that keep you stuck in life, as well as think about how I can best help you achieve your therapeutic goals. We’ll also decide how frequently we will meet (typically once or twice weekly).

  • Phone Consultation:

Initial phone consultations are up to 20 minutes in length and are offered free of charge to determine if we may be a good fit.

    Individual Therapy:

A 45 minute individual therapy session costs $235. Because I spend time getting to know you and your goals in the initial session, initial sessions are 75 minutes in length and cost $300.

    Reduced Fees:

I reserve a small portion of my caseload for individuals at a reduced rate (such as students or current clients undergoing financial hardship). The bottom of my sliding scale is $180. Please inquire regarding availability with an idea of what fee would be feasible for you. If this fee schedule does not work for you, I am happy to offer you referrals and resources for finding a better fit.

Psychotherapy is an investment, and it often comes at a great cost, both financial and emotional. Please share any concerns you may have about how this feels as this may be an ongoing discussion through the course of our work.

    Psychological Testing:

All testing is billed at $280 per hour. This includes the times we meet, time spent crafting your report, and our feedback sessions. You are offered a copy of the report free of charge.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

Before the first session, you will be required to provide credit card information through the secure patient portal that may be charged for sessions. You may also choose to pay from an HSA or FSA account if you have one, which may allow you to save money by paying for healthcare expenses with pre-taxed funds.

Cash and checks are also acceptable forms of payment with established patients.

  • Alpenglow follows a fairly standard cancellation policy for mental health appointments. You may cancel your appointment up to 24 hours in advance. If an appointment is canceled after the 24-hour mark, you will be charged for the full cost of the session since this time is reserved specially for you.

Please keep in mind that if you are late for a session, your session will still end at the pre-established time.

  • Guidelines:

Alpenglow is a private pay practice, and I do not bill insurance. Clients are expected to pay for their services, though some choose to use their “out-of-networks” insurance benefits. Out-of-network benefits vary per insurer, but they often cover a portion of the cost after you meet your deductible. I am happy to provide a superbill per your request that you may submit for partial reimbursement, according to your insurer’s benefits.

Why is Alpenglow not on Insurance Panels?

    1. Insurance companies require a diagnosis, something that will go on your permanent health record. This has the potential to negatively impact some individuals in the future depending on their individual circumstances.

    2. Insurance companies often restrict the scope and duration of therapy, essentially making them in charge of your care despite lack of specialized training or knowledge about your specific situation.

    3. Insurance companies often require extra information, such as session notes, treatment plans, or other personal information you may not wish to share.

    4. Release of mental health information can feel different than disclosure of basic health status. We value your privacy and the safety of the therapeutic setting.

    Benefits of Private Pay:

    1. You remain in charge of your information.

    2. Your information (i.e., diagnoses, personal information, specifics of treatment) remain confidential.

    3. You and I will be able to collaboratively dictate what your treatment looks like.

  • I provide an integrated approach to treatment with a foundation of psychodynamic psychotherapy.

At its core, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is a therapeutic approach that delves into the nuances of the human mind, seeking to unravel the implicit patterns that shape our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Rooted in empathy and insight, this approach aims to bring greater awareness and understanding to the underlying factors influencing our lives.

In psychodynamic psychotherapy, we explore past experiences, relationships, and unresolved conflicts that might be impacting your present emotional well-being, your decision-making, your identity, and your relationships. By examining these patterns, we can gain valuable insights into the roots of distress, allowing us to navigate towards healing and personal growth.

The therapeutic relationship plays a central role in this process. As your therapist, I will provide a safe, empathic, and non-judgmental space, fostering a genuine connection where you can freely explore your thoughts and feelings. Through open dialogue and reflective exploration, we will work collaboratively to understand the dynamics at play in your life, empowering you to make conscious choices and positive changes.

The benefits of psychodynamic psychotherapy are vast, and there is a considerable amount of cutting-edge research that supports psychodynamic methods. By exploring the roots of emotional distress and relational difficulties, you can experience a deep level of healing and personal growth while also developing a greater capacity for coping and managing difficulties. This approach provides a safe and non-judgmental space for you to process unresolved conflicts and gain a greater understanding of yourself. Through this process, you can develop stronger emotional resilience, enhance your self-esteem, and foster more fulfilling relationships.

This process is collaborative in nature and does not rely on something “outside of you” to make the change. Rather, it allows you to be a part of the process of change and empowers you, with support and guidance, to make the changes that bring about insight, growth, and greater resilience.

In addition to my extensive experience with the psychodynamic modality, I am also trained and experienced in the use of behavioral techniques, including CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and ACT. These are effective forms of treatment for skill development and symptom reduction. Even when using these methods, I continue to consider how your individual history may impact your ability to effectively utilize these styles of treatment.

Finally, I use several research-backed questionnaires throughout therapy. While this unfortunately creates more paperwork for you to complete, it also helps me measure how therapy is impacting you by giving me numerical data. This information allows me to more readily incorporate research methods into our treatment and to gauge your progress and development along the way.

  • A Good Faith Estimate, often referred to as a GFE, is a document provided by healthcare providers or medical facilities to patients before they receive medical services or treatments. Its purpose is to offer you a clear and upfront breakdown of the estimated costs they can expect to incur for your medical care.

    Your rights under this law:

Transparent Information: As a patient, you have the right to receive a comprehensive and transparent Good Faith Estimate. This estimate should clearly outline the expected costs for your medical care, helping you make informed decisions about your treatment.

Prior to Treatment: The GFE will be provided to you before you undergo any medical services. This gives you the opportunity to review the estimated costs, ask questions, and prepare for any financial responsibilities.

No Surprises: With a Good Faith Estimate in hand, you should have a clearer understanding of what you will be charged for medical services. This helps prevent unexpected or surprise bills, ensuring you can plan for the financial aspect of your healthcare.

Comparing Options: The GFE allows you to compare cost estimates from different healthcare providers. This empowers you to make informed choices about where to receive your medical care, taking into consideration both the quality of care and the associated costs.

Billing Disputes: In the event of any discrepancies or billing disputes, the Good Faith Estimate serves as a reference point. If there are significant deviations between the estimated costs and the final bills, you have the right to address these issues and seek clarification from the healthcare provider.

Remember, the Good Faith Estimate is designed to promote transparency and protect patients' rights when it comes to healthcare costs. As a patient, you have the right to access this information and understand the financial aspects of your medical care. Don't hesitate to ask questions and seek clarification if anything is unclear or if you have concerns about the estimated costs. Your informed decisions are crucial in ensuring you receive the care you need while being financially prepared.

  • Teletherapy is a modern and convenient form of mental health treatment that takes place through digital platforms. Instead of meeting in person, we would connect remotely using a secure and private video conferencing platform.

Think of teletherapy as having a virtual counseling room right in the comfort of your own space. It allows us to talk just as we would in a traditional in-person session, but with the added flexibility of doing so from any location with an internet connection.

It's important to note that teletherapy adheres to the same professional and ethical standards as traditional in-person therapy. Your privacy and confidentiality are upheld, ensuring a safe and supportive therapeutic experience.
